How Does a Golf Club Fitting Work?
Every call starts with the same two questions: what's involved, and what does it cost? Here's the honest answer to the first one. The second one's on the pricing page.

It Starts With Questions, Not Clubs
- Handicap, rounds per year, home course, whether you take lessons
- How far you hit your driver, and whether it flies high, low, or in between
- Your shot shape, and separately, where a mis-hit actually goes (often different: golfers who fade the ball frequently pull their best-struck shots)
A handicap tells you where a golfer is, not what they need. A plus-2 and a 22 are on the same scale at opposite ends of it: one is chasing tenths of a degree, the other is better served by forgiveness.
Even two high handicappers can need opposite things: someone who dropped from a 32 this year and takes weekly lessons is still changing, their swing won't look the same next spring. Someone who's been a steady 22 for a decade, playing once a month, isn't trying to get better. They're trying to enjoy Saturday morning.

We Start With What You Already Own
Bring your current clubs. Full bag if you're not sure which ones to bring. Before anything new comes out, you'll hit your current set on our Foresight Launch Monitor and read the real numbers, spoken in plain English: ball speed, spin, launch angle and dispersion.
Foresight tracks the shot photographically instead of by radar. That's why we use it indoors, since radar-based systems read spin rate less reliably in an indoor bay.
Putters are fit as part of a full-bag fitting. If you're buying one, we'll watch your stroke and tell you whether a mallet or a blade suits it better.
If There's Room to Improve, You'll See It Yourself
When the baseline shows an opportunity, you'll hit a range of demo clubs against your own numbers, side by side. You read the same data we do, and decide for yourself what's actually better.

Every Club Gets Checked
Where your clubs get built depends on what you're fit into, not on what's convenient for us. Factory-offered head-and-shaft combinations go to the manufacturer, which saves you money. Anything the factory doesn't offer gets assembled here. Every club is checked against your fitting specs, regardless of where it's built.
Factory tolerances aren't always as tight as the spec sheet claims, so we measure. Most sets arrive correct and go straight to the customer. When one doesn't, we adjust it here. What we don't do is take apart a set that's already right. Some shops rebuild every set that comes through the door, and the invoice reflects it.
Some of the things we check:
- Lie angle
- Shaft length
- Shaft weight
- Shaft flex
- Swing weight
- Grip size
- Installation

The Practical Stuff
How long does it take?
Plan on a couple of hours for a full-bag fitting. Single-club fittings, just a driver or just irons, run shorter.
How often should I get fit?
Every three to six years if you play regularly, sooner if your swing, your game, or your equipment has changed.
Never been fit before?
That's most people. You don't need to know your launch angle walking in, that's what the interview and baseline are for.
What should I bring?
Your current clubs, and the whole bag if you're unsure which ones. Wear golf shoes, or anything you're comfortable hitting balls in. No flip-flops. Plan on around 100 balls for a full-bag fitting.
How should I prepare?
Come fresh. Don't play eighteen holes first, and skip the three-hour gym session that morning. Stretch if you like. We want you swinging the way you normally swing, not the way you swing when you're spent.
Coming from NYC?
White Plains is about 25 miles north of Manhattan, roughly 40 minutes by car via the Saw Mill River Parkway, or a Metro-North ride on the Harlem Line from Grand Central. Worth the trip if there's no launch-monitor fitting near you in the city.
Call and Find Out What Your Swing Actually Needs
Every fitting here starts with a phone call, not a form. Tell us what you play now, and we'll tell you honestly whether a fitting will help.
